January 8: news recap

Monday news recap: Stocks soared today, not sure why, but the buying was huge. Maybe because there was no major news this weekend? Boeing has issues with the 737 Max. A "door plug" blew off. So all 737 Max planes were grounded and are subject to inspection. Loose bolts were found in several other plans. It's a mess.  There was a huge revision to early Job Report numbers. The numbers were revised down over 350,000! So how are they coming up with the numbers? Are the just guessing? That's exactly what they are doing. So why even bother! Other than the usual murder and mayhem, nothing else major occurred.

January 5 news recap

Friday news recap: The December Jobs report came out today and it showed an increase of 216,000 jobs for the month. The unemployment rate also remained at 3.7%. What does that mean? There will not be a rate cut in interest rates any time soon. That was the good news. The bad news is that most of the increase was in Government and Healthcare jobs, which are not what you want to see in a "healthy" jobs report. Stocks ended the week down. The start for the year was the worst since 2016. Not a good way to start the year.  Nothing else major occurred today except for the usual mayhem, crime, and war that is occurring on a regular basis.

January 4 news recap

Thursday news recap: The NASDAQ and S&P 500 were down a bit more today.  The Epstein papers were partially released today. Some interesting names associated with Epstein, but nothing earth shattering.  A school shooting in Iowa today. A sixth grader was killed and 4 others were injured. The 17 year old shooter took his own life.

January 3 news recap

Wednesday news recap: Stocks started the year at record highs. The S&P 500 began the year just shy of 4800 and the NASDAQ began the year at arround 15,000. So far stocks have not moved much. Let's see how stocks progress over 2024.  There was a major plane crash in Japan yesterday. 5 people died but hundreds survived. More people are being found dead in the earthquake zone in Japan. The death toll has surpassed 70. Wow, Japan is off to a rocky start this year.  There was a major explosion in Iran. More than 100 were killed. The attack is being blamed on terrorist, but who planed the bomb is still unknown. Will this lead to an expansion of the war in the Middle East?  US federal government debt officially surpasses $34 trillion! That is a stagering sum of money. Will it ever be repaid?

Tracking the chaos!

I decided to start a new blog. I think that things are going to become quite bad. So I want to keep track of all that happens as a record of how terible things are going to become.  Yesterday, January 1, Japan suffered a major earthquake. So far nearly 50 people are dead. So 2024 started off with a deadly earthquake! what an auspicious beginning - not!
